چکیده

Abstract Background The Pandemic of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has critically impacted the spread infection within nursing facilities. We evaluated usefulness genetic and serological tests conducted during a COVID-19 outbreak in facility Japan. Methods After first identification SARS-CoV-2 infection, comprehensive, facility- and/or unit-wide PCR testing from nasopharyngeal swabs was repeatedly performed three-unit including 99 residents with dementia 53 healthcare personnel. Additionally, separately for staff fever ?37.5 °C. Facility-wide testing, rapid kit quantitative assay, twice over 1 month apart. Results A total 322 257 antibody were performed. 37 (24.3%) 152 individuals (25/99 residents, 25.3%; 12/53 staff, 22.6%) identified as PCR-positive. Seven died mortality 7.1% (7/99). Among individuals, 10 (27.0%) asymptomatic at time testing. positivity concentrated on one unit (Unit 1) (20/30 66.7%; 9/14 64.3%). other units showed limited infection. In separate tests, detection highly prevalent (22.9 44.4%, respectively) Unit 1, compared that units. Serological two additional infected negative result no newly infected. Conclusions Thorough combination comprehensive is critical managing outbreaks facilities, particularly, considered an epicenter. also beneficial tracing contacts, confirming number authorizing termination outbreak.
